Infinity Wars Steals Plot
The reviews are in. Infinity Wars is a box office smash. Making an estimated $640 million on its opening weekend, it has pushed 'The Fate of the Furious' to number two for opening weekend profits.
The critics love it, the fans love it, the comic book nerds love it. That is, until one be plot comparison comes up. Rotten Tomatos critic Ben Handcok has noted that Infinity Wars isn't just a parallel to Titanic (1997), it's a stone cold ripoff of it. We're not talking about 'Avatar' being nothing more than 'Dances With Wolves' but with blue people, even the lines in Infinity War were stolen from Titanic.
The first clue came when Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, asks Starlord, played by Chris Pratt, to draw her like one of his Zen-Whoberis girls. The parallels go on, including Black Widow throwing the infinity gauntlet off of a boat into the Pacific Ocean at the end. Even the official movie poster has the Avengers assembled in a format that looks suspiciously similar to the original Titanic movie poster, with Antman at the top spreading his arms just like Leonardo Di'Caprio did in Titanic. Even the same percentage of people die in Infinity Wars as did in Titanic.
Outside of the lack of writing ingenuity, the actors and actresses did a stunning job convincing the world that this was an original piece. If Titanic is to be recast, James Cameron should consider Chris Pratt for the role of Jack.
